Itential is on a journey to simplify and accelerate network automation. We’ve achieved the latest milestone on that path by strengthening our partnership with Lumen, formerly known as CenturyLink. We recently announced a partnership with Lumen to offer the Itential Automation Platform as part of Lumen’s Network Consulting Services. Now, we are excited to share the work we’ve done with Lumen to standardize their own internal network operations, effectively driving business transformation through increased productivity, efficiency, and customer experience. The Itential Automation Platform is now used across Lumen’s Operations and IT groups, automating and improving network operations for Lumen customers spanning over 60 countries with over 450,000 miles of global route fiber.
According to Morgan Stern, Itential Vice President of Automation Strategy, “In 2021, business leaders will also recognize the need for a more strategic approach to automation, first by focusing on the overall business impact of automation, then by re-engineering processes, tool choices, and expectations to be more oriented to an automation-centric model.”
What does that mean for organizations? Automation needs to be considered at the outset of any transformation initiative; it can’t be viewed as a simple add-on or enhancement down the road. Lumen recognized that. Utilizing the Itential Automation Platform, Lumen has developed an effective strategic automation approach that has transformed the company’s internal network transformation efforts through an API-first, machine-centric model that drives automation across field operations, service assurance, and service delivery. The company has built an abstraction layer to combine processes, customer purchase workflows, and disparate networking products into a single platform that orchestrates functions around order management, service provisioning and service assurance across many disparate networks. The orchestration layer uses Itential to provide end-to-end visibility and management, streamlining and accelerating how the company delivers services to customers.
By joining forces with Itential, Lumen has enabled its customers to rapidly respond to changing market demands by delivering end-to-end network automations that scale over tens of millions of jobs and tasks through our low-code, scalable, and feature-rich network automation solution for multi-domain and multi-vendor networks. According to Richard Batelaan, EVP North American Operations of Lumen, “Itential has made it possible for our customers to utilize the Lumen application and data delivery platform in a way that best suits their individual needs –regardless of product mix, location, scale, scope and speed.” This business transformation has ultimately impacted their business by reducing customer activation times by 70%, gaining 2 weeks of revenue per customer, and much more.
