According to Gartner, nearly 80% of all enterprise network changes are made manually, and as a result, are 10x slower and 75% more likely to cause outages. In a world where everything is automated, it’s crazy to think that network changes are still widely done manually. This is why at Itential, we’re on a mission to provide integrated network automated solutions that are not only powerful, but easy to use and flexible enough to address networks of any type.
With Red Hat Ansible being a popular open source IT automation technology, we’re excited about our recently announced collaboration to simplify and accelerate the journey toward automated networks for the enterprise. This is the start of big things from us both in the Service Provider and the Enterprise spaces.
Ansible is a fantastic tool with a firm foundation in the IT automation space that has been expanding in the last year or so to include network automation capabilities. We saw the opportunity to leverage and extend this existing capability with our Network Intelligent Workflow Builder. This enables the automation of device specific use cases such as config changes, OS upgrades, port turn ups, etc. The addition of Itential technology on top of Ansible can take existing automation efforts to the next level or enable a smooth transition to network automation for those that may have not started their automation strategy yet.
Itential will be providing features such as auto-discovery of existing Modules and Playbooks in Ansible as well as allowing those to be used in an intelligent workflow that can leverage other tools you may have in place as well, if needed. This is done in a visual, drag-and-drop environment that allows non-developers to create automation stories that traditionally required a developer proficient in Python, YAML, Perl, etc.
Additionally, Itential exposes the capabilities present in the solution through a consolidated API for other applications to call. This can be used to extend the life of those tools that have had heavy investment over the years by expanding what you can automate with them versus starting high cost projects to replace those existing tools.
The future is going to be very exciting as Itential + Red Hat Ansible provides you the ability to accelerate automation efforts, leverage existing tools, add intelligence to network automation process not possible with other tools and do that in a low-code environment that allows your network engineers to accomplish this without becoming developers.
