Streamline the deployment and management of services and applications in the network with Itential’s Service Manager.
Streamline the deployment and management of services and applications in the network with Itential’s Service Manager.
Management of services in the network has primarily been a highly manual process involving vendor specific command-line interfaces (CLI) resulting in high impacting errors. Due to the sensitive nature of network services from a security and reliability perspective, it has become imperative that provisioning mistakes be reduced to the point of near elimination. In order to accomplish this, service models have been defined in YANG and TOSCA. Service orchestrators and controllers have emerged that manage the creation and update of models, as well as the instantiation of service instances based on these models.
The following are some common service orchestration use cases that can be automated through the combination of the Itential Automation Platform and associated service orchestrators:
Translation of the service configuration into YANG for network services and TOSCA for cloud-based services, producing reusable, industry standard service definitions, and more.
Standardize processes and procedures, maintain service configuration versions, change history logging, and more.
Service discovery and management, service configuration updates, compiling change history records, service configuration backups, and more.
Role-based access, categorize network service actions, user activity logging, federation across disparate service orchestrators, and more.
Itential implements service orchestration to federate the models, processes, and data from multiple service orchestrators into a single user interface for deployment and management of services and applications in the network.
By eliminating users typing vendor-specific CLI commands to configure services, and providing users native service configuration, Itential drastically reduces the chance for human error.
Federating service orchestration activity across multiple service orchestrators increases business agility by preventing changes in the network from being a speed bump in any business process.
Service models are the foundation of dynamic services management and the use of industry standard modeling languages like YANG and TOSCA ensures reusable models that also interoperate with the top orchestrators.
Through integrations with Service Orchestrators, Itential provides a unified view of all deployed services and provides a single pane of glass for managing the full end-to-end lifecycle.
Itential golden services provides versioning of services which enables the management of those services in the network, with multiple version of the service existing in the network.
The Service Orchestration application in the Itential Automation Platform provides comprehensive service management functionalities:
Itential uses Service Manager to manage the lifecycle of services. This solution addresses the complexity of managing services that extend across a multitude of devices.
Users are provided an application that allows for the creation of new Service Catalog items to be displayed within the Service Catalog. The Service Catalog Builder allows the user to define key attributes of the Service such as: Display Name, associated Service, Description, associated Workflow and workflow variables, Groups allowed to view and provision this item, and associated Forms that will be used in the automation of the Service instantiation.
While Service Manager performs create, read, update, and delete operations on service instances, Golden Services manages the migration of services across versions.
