The July 2026 research examines the hardest problems in agentic NetOps – reasoning accuracy, hallucination risk, unpredictable AI costs, and the guardrails required to act on production networks – and names the five product innovations Gartner’s analysts find coolest in addressing them.
In Gartner’s words:
Gartner charts the maturing of AI for network operations from the “cute” chatbots to competent AI agents that reason to achieve goals – prompted or unprompted. These are the innovations it names as the ones engineered to make agents viable on enterprise networks:
Gartner’s strategic planning assumption underscores where this is heading: by 2030, AI agents will be the most common approach for executing network runtime activities, up from less than 1% in early 2026.
Gartner’s reason is architecture: agentic reasoning combined with deterministic implementation controls, so network teams gain agility without compromising stability.
