Lumen Accelerates Customer Service Delivery through Network Automation & Orchestration with Itential

Chris Wade, CTO of Itential was joined by Richard Batelaan, EVP of North American Operations, Lumen, at ONUG Fall 2021 for a discussion on Lumen’s platform strategy, and the automation and orchestration that enables their enterprise customers to rapidly respond to changing market demands through agile, on-demand network and edge cloud services.

Lumen’s network services team was faced with two competing pressures: a network increasing in both scale and complexity, and the need to deliver service requests faster and at greater volume to meet customer needs. With Itential, they were able to unify internal processes, customer purchase workflows, and all of their disparate networking products, enabling integrated automation that can reach every component of network operations.

Now, with over 50 external systems and technologies integrated for this use case alone, the team is able to orchestrate services end-to-end. This approach to automation and orchestration enables customers to utilize Lumen’s application in whatever manner suits their needs, regardless of product mix, location, scale, or speed.
